Ask the Google App
The world’s knowledge at your fingertips, no matter where you are.
The beauty of the Google app is that it puts the world's knowledge at your fingertips — no matter where you are. So we created a campaign celebrating curiosity in all its forms, encouraging people to get out there and ask all the questions that have ever popped into their heads. Our work spanned from TV commercials to real-time banners that would update with the news to a multimedia takeover of New York City that asked the right questions in the right places.
Ok Google, why is it called the Big Apple?
We took over the streets of New York with custom built objects and placements asking all sorts of questions in popular tourist spots and local haunts alike. Hand-blown neon signs lit up the windows of the Empire State Building, while cups in Caffe Reggio asked customers to ponder the history of their favorite beverage. Joysticks at Barcade, bowling balls at Brooklyn Bowl, a drumset at Pianos, a mural on the streets of Williamsburg, and more made New Yorkers rethink the city around them.
Real questions, real answers, all in real time.
On The New York Times and Washington Post sites, we created real time banners that would populate with relevant questions as the news rolled in. And by "populate," I mean we were locked in the basement of the newsroom hitting refresh, writing thousands of queries throughout the entire day (no, really). While on social media, we created illustrated posts dedicated to specific days, like International Talk Like a Pirate Day and World Vegetarian Day.
